I first came to
Alaska during my second year of college in 1990. This once in a lifetime
opportunity presented itself, for me to work on a commercial fish-site,
and I jumped at the chance. I very quickly found myself in love with
fishing, Alaska, the people, and a few years later, the boss' daughter.
My father-in-law had been fishing in Alaska almost all of his life. He
started helping out on a fish site alongside his father and grandfather.
Today, my own sons are taking their places on the commercial fishing
site and fish alongside me and their grandfather. My hope is that
fishing stays as an inheritance for generations to come, instilling the
values and building the character that comes from a son working with and
learning from a father.
